Homeopathy for You and Your Baby: A Safe and Effective Choice

Updated: Oct 6, 2025

Understanding Homeopathy for Infants

Nobody really wants to publicly discuss using homeopathy for you and your baby, but there is plenty of evidence and research proving its safety and effectiveness. I started using homeopathic remedies for my family about 25 years ago. My journey began with Arnica for bumps and bruises, and I quickly expanded my knowledge from there. It was amazing how effective Arnica was for those falls and bumps (note: it should not be used on open wounds). Just rub a little on the bump (a kiss or two) and watch the swelling resolve and the tears fade away.

The Need for Alternatives

Most over-the-counter (OTC) medications are not suitable for babies and infants. When colic or a cold strikes, there aren’t many options available. Below is a list of commonly used homeopathic remedies for infants, babies, and young children. This list serves as a guide for educational purposes.

Homeopathy for Infants

Common Homeopathic Remedies

  1. Chamomilla

Yes! You guessed it, chamomilla (like the tea). This remedy is excellent for teething and helps to comfort and calm your infant or baby (and mama too).

  2. Arnica

Arnica is effective for any type of bumps or bruises. It is also helpful right after birth if there is any injury or bruising.

  3. Apis Mel

This remedy is great for ant bites, fly bites, bee stings, and wasp stings. When swelling is present, Apis Mel is the right choice.

  4. Aconitum

Aconitum is beneficial for fever, the first stage of a cold, restlessness, and can even be used for chickenpox.

  5. Calendula

Calendula is calming for irritated skin, eczema, cuts, and scratches. You can find it at most grocery stores and pharmacies as a lotion, but it is also available to take orally.

  6. Calc Carb

This remedy is great for indigestion, undigested food, gas, and bloating.

  7. Thuja

Thuja is useful when your little one experiences ill effects from vaccines.

  8. Ipecac

Ipecac is helpful when vomiting persists. It addresses nausea and vomiting effectively.

Exploring More Options

There are many other homeopathic options not listed here. Each remedy can be useful for various issues. When selecting a remedy, aim to match as many symptoms as possible to find the best fit for resolution. Considering the emotional state and personality of your child also aids in choosing the correct remedy.
